Oil & Gas Industries

There is no doubt that the oil/energy industry is extremely large.

Oil & Gas industry provide the world's 7 billion people with 60 percent of their daily energy needs. The other 40 percent comes from coal, nuclear and hydroelectric power, "renewables" like wind, solar and tidal power, and biomass products such as firewood. A refinery runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and requires a large number of employees.

Petroleum refineries convert crude oil and other liquids into many petroleum products that people use every day. Most refineries focus on producing transportation fuels. Before petroleum can be used, it is sent to a refinery where it is physically, chemically and thermally separated into fractions and then converted into finished products. About 90% of these products are fuels such as aviation fuels, distillate, gasoline and residual oil, coke (not the refreshment), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and kerosene. Refineries also produce non-fuel products, including petrochemicals, lubricants, asphalt, road oil, wax and solvents. Petrochemicals (benzene, propylene, ethylene, and others) are shipped to chemical plants, where they are used to manufacture chemicals and plastics.
